One of the many things I love about living in Paris is the abundance of street art everywhere you look. There are countless internationally acclaimed artists for whom Paris is their canvas. Over the years, I’ve come to recognize specific artists and their works as I move throughout the city. That’s why I was thrilled when the City Hall of Paris, known as the Hotel de Ville, announced a free exhibition dedicated to the history of street art in Paris. Sign me up! And sign me up a lovely friend of mine did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition spanned 60 years of street art in Paris, and focused on both the artists and the history of the movement as a whole. Of course, Invader<\/a>, the pixelated tile artist who has been active in Paris since 1998 was featured prominently. But the exhibition did a fantastic job of presenting a wide range of artists from all over the world who have all made their mark on this city at some point in the past 60 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were way too many incredible pieces on display to be able to choose a favourite. But I particularly liked the piece from Swoon<\/a> above. I spent a long time standing in front of this one, marvelling at its beauty. So hopefully I’ll see more works from Swoon in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
