There are so many things that I love about this video, I don’t even know where to start. All I can say is that I have officially found my new banger for a Friday night. And best of all, Woodkid is French, so hopefully I will have the chance to see this magic in person sooner rather than later.
And yes, I did say magic. This video is a live recording of a concert from 2016, and no disrespect to music videos, but there is nothing like seeing a born performer, in their element, live in front of an audience. And Woodkid is clearly a natural performer. He has the crowd in the palm of his hand the whole way through, clapping, singing, and jumping along. Even when the music stops about halfway through and the claps grow quiet, he effortlessly gets them back moments later. It’s incredible to watch him in action.
And not just him. He’s backed by a nearly 50 piece orchestra, a choir, and a lighting designer who is clearly having the time of their life. It’s an incredible spectacle all around, and it gave me goosebumps more than once. And just when I didn’t think it could get any better, just watch what happens when the song ends and the crowd isn’t quite ready to let the song go. As I already said, magic. I can’t wait to be in that crowd one of these days.
