You know that old adage, “Never judge a book by its cover”? Well that certainly applies to today’s daily helping. I chose Vernon solely because of his name. My paternal family is from a city with the same name, and I thought to myself, “What a lovely coincidence for a Kpop Friday.” And then I clicked the link. And this song was nothing like what I thought it would be. Gone are the slick dance routines and glittery outfits that I’ve come to expect from Kpop. Instead, “Black Eye” is an angsty, emo-rock anthem straight out of the mid-2000s. With all-English lyrics. In other words, not at all what I expected from the main rapper of the Kpop group Seventeen. But I dig it.
So yeah. Never judge a book by its cover. Happy Friday all!
