I’m not entirely sure what I expected when I Googled “Cambodian punk bands”. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I would find anything. I just randomly picked a country and a genre of music to see what happened. And what happened was I discovered this fantastic rager by Vartey Ganiva about all of the abusive husbands in the world and all the women who are very much done with their shit. “Evil Husband” may be a bit on the nose as a song title, but then again, punk was never known for being subtle.
So yeah. Cambodian punk. I will never stop being amazed at what you can find when you go looking for something different. Unfortunately, I haven’t found much else by Vartey Ganiva, but I do know that this song will be on my playlists for the foreseeable future.
