Today’s helping is yet another rec, but it couldn’t be more different than yesterday’s. Instead of a Mongolian throat singing metal band, we have Our Native Daughters, an American folk collaboration between singer-songwriters Rhiannon Giddens, Amythyst Kiah, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell. But I love it all the same. The lyrics are both sad and hopeful, and the music is calm and steady. To date, Our Native Daughters have only released one album, but hopefully there will be more collaborations in the future. I, for one, will definitely be listening.
