Today’s daily helping came to me through a rec, and I’m absolutely loving the infectious energy of “Mr. Fete“. Machel Montano is a Trinidadian soca musician, and yes, I’m the lame white person who had to look up what soca meant. But now I know that it’s a form of music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1970s as a blend of Calypso, African, and East Indian sounds. I also can’t wait to hear more of this genre. If this song is anything to go by, I know what I’ll be dancing to for the foreseeable future.
