I wish I had an actual photo to share with you of the Lakhon Khol Youth of Cambodia. Sadly, I do not. I watched a performance from this youth dance trope while I was working, and while I managed to surreptitiously snap a couple of photos, none of them are anywhere in the realm of what I would call good. So instead, I found the graphic above, and you’re just going to have to imagine actual people in these costumes and poses. And if you do happen to find yourself in Cambodia, definitely check out a performance of Lakhon Khol, which is the traditional dance genre that is performed in Cambodia. It is a beautiful and poetic hybrid of masked theatre and dance, and I loved the performance that I saw by the youth company in Phnom Penh. I will definitely go to a full length show the next time I’m in Cambodia. Because yes. I’m already planning a return trip.
