Did you know that Dubai hosted the World Expo 2020? Me neither. Of course, it didn’t actually take place in 2020 due to COVID. But it did go ahead between October 2021 and March 2022, attracting approximately 24 million visitors. Which is astonishing considering that omicron was tearing its way around the world during that time and borders were closing yet again. But the show must go on I suppose.
I’m not entirely sure if this video of Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir is from the opening or closing ceremony, or even a different performance altogether, but it is incredible. Apparently I missed a good show. The next Expo will be held in Osaka in 2025, so I’m making a note of that now. A trip to Japan in 2025? Count me in.
