I don’t know about everyone else, but it’s gotten to the point that I dread looking at the news. I want to be informed and know what’s going on in the world. But there’s only so much unrelenting bad news of people being awful to one another that I can take. Which is why this piece by Ja’Tovia Gary stopped me in my tracks. Care is the antidote to violence. What a profoundly beautiful statement. I hope more people take this to heart, because whether it’s for yourself or for others, we could all practice a bit more care in our lives. I think I might just stick a picture of this piece on my wall as a constant reminder. I’d much rather have the real thing of course. But I’m pretty sure this artist has long since moved out of my price range.
