There are a lot of things that I love about the Daily Hart. But one of the things that I love the most is all of the recommendations that come in. They are always interesting, fascinating, and/or brilliant, and I’ve learned so much through them over the past couple of years. And today is no exception. Back in January, I wrote about my epiphany watching a Dior menswear fashion show. I declared that I wanted to learn more about fashion, and in came a rec to check out Harris Reed.
Harris Reed is a British-American designer who, in their own words, fights for the beauty of fluidity. They use fashion as an act of self-expression, and as a way to challenge the binary perceptions around gender and sexuality. I still know next to nothing about fashion, but I am here for all of that. And I’ve now spent a lot of time looking through Reed’s portfolio and marvelling at their work. I was particularly taken with this collection at Nina Ricci. I’m not sure how practical many of these pieces are to wear in the real world. But more and more I’m learning that that’s not the point. The point is the artistry on display, and in this case, Reed’s artistry is incredible.
If anyone reading this has other fashion designers I should be checking out, please send them my way. I very much want to learn more.
Suggestions for artists I should check out? Please contact me with your ideas. I hope you enjoyed your daily helping of art!
