Wow. This movie was a ride. I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie where I was so unsure of my allegiances all the way through. Because while Blue, Painful, Fragile is certainly not a perfect film, it has absolutely mastered the art of the unreliable narrator.
So what’s this film about? Honestly? I’m still not entirely sure what it’s ultimately trying to say. But in a nutshell, Blue, Painful, Fragile is a film about two university students who start a club with the goal of changing the world. It should be a simple enough premise, but this movie had way more twists than I was expecting, so I’m not going to give anything else away. But I will say that I spent the entire movie trying to figure out whose side I was on. Which character I was meant to be rooting for. With each twist, I kept changing my mind, so as I said, this movie was quite the journey. Even now, I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about it. But I know for sure that I won’t be forgetting it any time soon.
